After several sluggish years coming out of the recession, Arizona appears to have reclaimed economic swagger. So far in 2018, Arizona ranks fifth among the states for personal income gains, sixth for gross state product or output and seventh for job creation. Most of the state’s economic clout will remain concentrated in metropolitan Phoenix, which has accounted for 88 percent of all jobs created in Arizona.
Job growth has accelerated in recent months, with Arizona likely to add about 72,000 net jobs in 2018, up from 63,900 in 2017, and 71,000 in 2019.
