Despite Arizona State University’s high enrollment number, it’s easy for students to find a sense of belonging and purpose with all that the university offers. With five campuses, more than 350 undergraduate degrees, and over 1,000 student organizations, there’s something for everyone.
If you’re interested in attending ASU, here’s why it’s a great choice.
Top-Ranked University
ASU has an impressive track record and continues to be recognized for its academics. For four years in a row, U.S. News and World Report ranked ASU #1 for Most Innovative Schools. It’s also been listed in quite a few other rankings by the magazine, including #11 in Best Undergraduate Teaching.
In the 2017-2018 school year, 14 students received a Fulbright award, making it seventh among public universities for the number of students to win this esteemed award. Times Higher Education also listed the university in the top one percent of the world’s most prestigious universities and 100 top universities in the world for research and teaching.
Honors College
Students who want to maximize their educational career and are looking for more of a challenge can apply to Barrett, the Honors College. The college is selective, and applications can only be submitted after students first apply to ASU.
Barrett is a good choice for anyone looking for a more close-knit college experience. Students on the Tempe campus can live in the Barrett residential community, and other campuses also offer honors communities.
Additionally, there are certain classes and opportunities, such as study abroad programs and internships, that are exclusive to honors students.
Location
The main ASU campus is located in the heart of Tempe and is within walking distance to the downtown area. There’s a variety of shops, restaurants, and activities for students to enjoy after classes and on the weekends.
Sports fans can attend Sun Devil games in football, basketball, volleyball and more. Students can also enjoy shows like WICKED, which is described as “Tempe’s most POPULAR musical,” at ASU Gammage.
There are also unique benefits to each of the other ASU campuses. For example, the downtown Phoenix campus is surrounded by artwork, museums, and local coffee shops. The Polytechnic campus is near the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, and the West campus features “Oxford-inspired architecture.” Students on these campuses can get the feel of attending a smaller school while taking advantage of all of the things that a large university offers.
No matter what you kind of college experience you’re looking for, you’re bound to find it at ASU. It’s a place where you’ll make lifelong friends, connect with like-minded students and professors, and create unforgettable memories. The university offers endless possibilities in terms of both academics and student life, and it’s a great choice that will lead you to exciting new opportunities in your career and future.
